The Big Apple & Brotherly Love Orientation drive through New York City en route to Philadelphia for a city tour focusing on the highlights of this historic city, the “Birthplace of the Nation.” During your free time, you may want to visit the Liberty Bell, National Constitution Center, or enjoy lunch and shopping at Reading Terminal Market. Continue south to Washington DC, the nation’s capital. (B) TOUR HIGHLIGHT Philadelphia’s proud history spans the American Revolution through its emergence as a major force in modern culture, sports, music, and business. ENHANCED FREE TIME Explore more in Philadelphia with a visit to the legendary Liberty Bell, bearing the timeless message: "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof." The bell once rang out from Independence Hall to summon lawmakers to work and citizens to gather for important news. Go beyond the iconic crack to learn how this State House bell was transformed into an extraordinary symbol of civil rights with a message of freedom and hope.

Monumental Memorials Sightseeing with a Local Guide to see the [LOCAL FAVORITE] nation’s legendary landmarks. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure where you may wish to visit the museums of the Smithsonian Institution, tour the National Cathedral, wander the stacks at the Library of Congress, or walk through the historic Georgetown neighborhood lined with brick rowhouses, unique restaurants and stylish shops. Join us for an optional dinner tonight at one of Washington’s favorite restaurants, followed by an illumination tour of some of the city’s most beautiful monuments. (B) LOCAL FAVORITE Your Local Guide shares the iconic and patriotic monuments to American sacrifice and freedom commemorated in moving memorials. Marvel at the stately and sometimes somber remembrances of heroes and visionaries who shaped the American legacy. See the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial, and the Vietnam and Korean War Veterans Memorials on the National Mall. Stop for photo opportunities at the Washington Monument, White House, and historic Capitol Hill.

Pennsylvania’s Past & Present Journey further through Pennsylvania to Williamsport, a former leader in the lumber industry located at the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and on the Susquehanna River. Today the lumber barons are long gone but their Victorian mansions still stand, and the town has traded lumber for America’s favorite pastime, baseball. (B) TOUR HIGHLIGHT Williamsport was an important point in the Underground Railroad. In 1867, Frederick Douglass spoke to a crowd at The Doebler House, a hotel that possibly worked with the Underground Railroad, housing people as they moved north. The Freedom Road area offered caves in wooded areas, barns, secret hiding places, and the friends and family of Daniel Hughes discreetly provided shelter, food, and assistance to people traveling north to freedom.

Onward to Canada! Travel through the rolling Appalachian Mountains and enter New York State. Visit the Corning Museum of Glass, the world’s most extensive collection of glass and a top school for glassblowing. Continue north and cross the border into Canada for magnificent Niagara Falls. Taking the Plunge Board a Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise for a thrilling boat ride to view the thundering falls from river level. Later, drive around the “Golden Horseshoe” of Lake Ontario and through vineyards and rich farmlands to Toronto. Enjoy free time this evening to explore Toronto. Consider an optional excursion for dinner and memorable views at the top of the iconic CN Tower, one of the world's tallest free-standing structures. (B) TOUR HIGHLIGHT The famous natural wonder of Niagara Falls consists of three massive waterfalls – American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls – plummeting from the southern end of Niagara Gorge. Spanning the border between Canada’s Ontario and America’s New York State, the largest of the falls is Horseshoe Falls – also known as the Canadian Falls –which straddles the border of both countries. Oh, Canada! Take a sightseeing tour of Toronto with a Local Guide. View Toronto’s two city halls, the Ontario Legislative Building, The University of Toronto, and local neighborhoods, including Chinatown. Then, drive east to Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Located on the banks of the Ottawa River, Ottawa offers a unique blend of culture, history, and outdoor beauty. Enjoy free time this evening to explore the city at your own pace. Consider a visit to the ByWard Market, walk along the Rideau Canal, or dine at one of Ottawa’s many special restaurants. (B) TOUR HIGHLIGHT Explore the sights of the capital of Ontario with a guided sightseeing tour of Toronto’s landmarks amid its soaring skyscrapers (all dwarfed by the iconic and stratospheric CN Tower). Indulge in authentic handmade cannoli, a Sicilian pastry filled with a sweet, creamy filling, often topped with chopped pistachios, candied fruit, or chocolate chips. Many Italian immigrants arrived in Boston in the late 19th and early 20th centuries seeking a new opportunity and settled in the North End, an affordable waterfront neighborhood close to the shipping, fishing, and construction jobs.
