Our Magical Voyage Aboard Disney Destiny

From the moment you step aboard Disney Destiny, you know you have entered a world of enchantment. Whether you are a family sailing with little ones, a couple seeking nostalgic charm, or a Disney fan at heart, this newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet delivers wonder from sunrise to starlight.

We recently sailed on the ship’s inaugural cruise, and our journey was filled with joy, surprises, and magical moments at every turn. Here's everything we experienced – and everything you can look forward to.

Boarding Disney Destiny felt like stepping into a storybook moment. From the instant we entered the dazzling Grand Hall, we were greeted with golden finishes, sweeping staircases, and soaring ceilings that reflect the beauty of Disney storytelling.

What made the experience even more magical was hearing our family name announced over the speakers as we entered. It was super special for the kids, something we’ve never seen before. A really cool moment for our family.

Embarkation was seamless, the ship was easy to navigate, and the excitement onboard was unmistakable. The Grand Hall sparkles with golden accents, sweeping staircases, and soaring ceilings that reflect the magic of Disney storytelling.

The upper decks of Disney Destiny are designed for nonstop fun. Kids can splash in themed water play areas, watch Disney movies on the giant Funnel Vision screen, or enjoy multiple family pools spread across the deck.

One of our favorite discoveries was the adults-only pool deck at the back of the ship. It was quiet, beautifully designed, and featured a tucked-away coffee shop with the perfect morning view.

The ship’s deck spaces were also thoughtfully designed, offering different zones for play, relaxation, and magical moments from sunrise to sunset.

Accommodation includes a range of Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge level cabins along with luxurious suites. Even standard cabins are designed with families in mind.

We stayed in a Family Balcony Cabin, and it quickly became our home away from home. The layout was smart and spacious, with plenty of storage for luggage and clothes.

It was well designed and the bed was comfortable, plus, the split bathroom was nice for our family. One with toilet and sink and another with full tub and shower. The tub is a great addition for families with young kids!

One feature we especially appreciated was the fold-down bed, which our room attendant prepared after dinner each night. We really liked how the extra bed came down from the wall so we didn’t lose any space.

Dining aboard Disney Destiny is both fun and flavorful. Through Disney’s rotational dining system, we moved between beautifully themed restaurants, while our wait staff followed us each night to maintain a seamless dining experience.

Our family’s favorite spot was actually the pool food options for lunch. They had a few different options with the standout being the fresh grilled burgers!

Dinner venues like Pride Lands, themed after The Lion King, provided both entertainment and atmosphere. But our favorite meals came from 1923, a stylish restaurant inspired by Disney's heritage. The lamb and peppered filet at 1923 were our favorite meals.

The standout, however, was the dessert. Plus, the service is great. We love the concept of rotational dining. Our wait staff understood what our kids liked after night number one and had it waiting on the table for night two.

Disney Destiny’s entertainment is designed to amaze audiences of all ages. The Walt Disney Theatre hosts spectacular nightly productions including reimagined favorites like Frozen along with new shows exclusive to Destiny.

Every night brought new, top-tier performances in the Walt Disney Theatre. From full-scale musicals to character-driven productions, the entertainment consistently amazed us.

We really liked Hercules and Frozen. The talent of the singers and dancers is unmatched.

In addition to the big productions, Disney Destiny offered daily activities, character meet-and-greets, and spontaneous moments of joy. There was always something going on from trivia to games to photo opportunities.

With something exciting around every corner, the ship’s entertainment offerings were among the best we’ve ever experienced.

Disney Destiny may be packed with kid-friendly fun, but it’s also built with adults in mind. The ship includes an entire district of adults-only lounges, themed bars, and quiet areas designed for parents to relax and unwind.

Each venue had its own personality, offering everything from craft cocktails to live music in stylish, immersive settings. The peaceful adult pool and spa areas created an ideal balance between excitement and serenity. We thought the service was great, attentive, and friendly.
